Why families pick Blue Crab
Seven things the photos can't say.
-
A kitchen that feeds the whole crew without a fuss. The house
Built new in 2023. It still feels that way.
Not the usual beach rental with worn furniture and mystery stains. Every surface, mattress, and appliance went in new in 2023, and the house is turned over to that standard every single time. Smart TVs ready to stream, 1 Gbps WiFi in every corner, a kitchen that actually has the tools — pure vacation mode from the moment the code clicks.
-
Three minutes to the sand, from above. The beach
Three minutes to the sand, gear already loaded.
Pack the beach cart with the six chairs, the four body boards, the Shibumi shade, and the toys, hop in the golf cart, cross at the 58th Street light, and you’re on the beach before anyone asks “are we there yet?” The house sits on the quiet Intracoastal side of the island — calm streets, easy parking, and a boat ramp one minute away.
-
Six-seat golf cart — included with your stay. Island-style
A six-seat golf cart, included.
The single most-mentioned thing in our reviews. Six seats, room for the beach cart in the back, and a beach parking pass so it parks at the accesses. The beach, the pier, the ice-cream run, the grocery dash — all at fifteen miles an hour with the wind in your hair.
-
Arcade room: foosball, retro cabinet, 65″ screen. Rainy-day insurance
An arcade room for the rainy Tuesday.
A 65″ smart TV, a foosball table, a retro arcade cabinet, multiple game systems, a hanging egg chair, and enough floor for the whole crew to pile in. The kids disappear in there; the adults reclaim the porch. Everybody wins.
-
Bunk room — two twin-over-full bunks, one door that closes. Sleeping arrangements
Ten people, three real bedrooms, one door that closes.
Parents get the king master with its own en-suite bath and walk-in shower. Grandparents or the second couple get the queen room. The kids get the bunk room — two twin-over-full bunks (one up top, two below, six in all), fish wallpaper, room-darkening shades. A queen sleeper sofa in the living room lets you split the group differently. Two full baths, fresh linens on every bed.
-
Fire pit, hammocks, and the porch light on. Outdoor living
Evenings that end at the fire pit.
Dinner under the pergola’s shade sails and string lights, s’mores around the smokeless fire pit, two hammocks for whoever calls them first, cornhole boards with the house name on them, a screened porch for the mosquito hours, and an outdoor shower so the beach stays outside. The backyard is fenced; the sunsets are free.
-
Coffee on the porch. That's the whole plan. The Blue Crab promise
Hosts who answer.
We built this house to be the one our own families would want to stay in, and we run it like it. Smart-lock self check-in, a message before you arrive with the beach tips and the crab recommendations, and a real person — usually within the hour — if anything, big or small, comes up. Read the reviews; “responsive” is the word that keeps turning up.

King master
- King bed
- Sleeps 2
Your retreat. A king bed under the shiplap wall, a ceiling fan, and a door to your own bathroom with a glass walk-in shower and a double vanity. Parents, this one is yours.
-
Queen room
- Queen bed
- Sleeps 2
A second grown-up bedroom with a queen bed, white bedding, and a “Relax” sign that means it. Grandparents and second couples tend to claim it first.
-
Bunk room
- 2 twin-over-full bunks
- Sleeps 6
Two twin-over-full bunk beds — a twin up top, a full below, so each bunk sleeps three — with blue fish wallpaper and shades that make 7 AM look like midnight. Six kids, one door that closes, and a hallway between them and the porch.
-
Living room
- Sleeper sofa
- Sleeps 2
Movie-night headquarters: a deep sectional, a navy ottoman that doubles as a coffee table, a smart TV with a sound bar, and a queen sleeper sofa if you would rather split the group up differently (the house sleeps ten either way). It opens straight onto the kitchen island, so nobody misses the conversation.
-
Kitchen and dining
A white shaker kitchen with sea-glass tile, a gas range, and a long island with bar stools, opening onto a farmhouse table that seats the whole crew. Stocked with every tool you’d reach for, cooking basics, wine glasses, and coffee two ways. Three more tables outside when the weather is right.
-
Arcade game room
The room the kids will tell their friends about. A 65-inch screen, a foosball table, a retro arcade cabinet, multiple consoles, a bean bag, and a hanging egg chair, with French doors out to the yard. Rainy day, solved.
-
Two full baths
The master’s en-suite has the glass walk-in shower and double vanity; the hall bath has a tub-shower for the little ones and a seashell curtain because, well, Oak Island. Bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided — beach towels are yours to bring.
-
Porches and backyard
A screened porch with a dining table for bug-free dinners, navy rockers on the front porch for the coffee hour, and a fenced backyard with pergola dining under shade sails and string lights, a smokeless fire pit ringed by six Adirondack chairs, two hammocks, cornhole boards, and a cedar outdoor shower. Parking for six underneath.
Beds at a glance
Who sleeps where, in numbers.
The 4 bedroom beds sleep 10 — a twin up top and a full below on each bunk — and 10 is the house's maximum. The queen sleeper sofa is there for splitting the group differently, not for adding to it. Children under two in the travel crib don't count toward the 10.

Beach access
Three minutes to 58th Street.
By golf cart or car, ten to fifteen minutes if you walk — the 55th Street and 58th Street accesses are the two closest, and 58th Street has the stoplight for crossing Oak Island Drive with kids and carts. The house sits on the quiet Intracoastal side of the island — not oceanfront, and we'd rather tell you now than have you find out at the door.
